We are excited to announce the launch of BIOSTIMOLA Hub–Biostimulants and Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture.
Building on the recently concluded BIOSTIMOLA project, this new initiative builds on past work while exploring new topics, providing a complete view of the biostimulant sector.
The 12-month project is led by Agricola 2000 ScpA, with support from DiSAA – Horticulture and Floriculture Research Group, and is financed under CAP 2023–2027, specifically targeting Specific Objective 5 to promote sustainable development and efficient use of natural resources.
A Knowledge Hub for the Sector
BIOSTIMOLA Hub is designed as a shared knowledge platform, bringing together experts to explore and share insights on biostimulants and their applications.
Key topics include:
- Biostimulants, climate change, and the Green Deal;
- Biostimulants, robotics, and machinery for sustainable crop management;
- Biostimulants and the circular economy: from waste materials to biostimulant products;
- Open-field vs protected-environment applications: best practices for effective use.
Promoting Sustainable Biostimulant Use
These activities provide an opportunity to promote the responsible and informed use of biostimulants, fostering sustainable development and the efficient use of natural resources such as water, soil, and air, while also reducing chemical dependence (Specific Objective 5).
The project aims to strengthen the link between research and agronomic practice, becoming a reference point for stakeholders and providing tools to improve both productivity and sustainability in crop management.
The specific objectives of BIOSTIMOLA Hub include:
- Disseminating knowledge on biostimulants, highlighting their role in sustainable agricultural practices, adaptation to climate change, and promotion of agriculture aligned with the Green Deal and the Farm to Fork (F2F) strategy.
- Supporting agricultural enterprises by providing technical tools and knowledge to encourage the integration of biostimulants into broader crop management strategies.
- Equipping farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs with the information needed to understand the strategic role of biostimulants in environmental protection and land stewardship. Responsible use of production inputs with a sustainability focus will be central to the project’s information activities.
- Ensuring continuous updates for all sector stakeholders, offering practical tools and knowledge to support sustainable decision-making in daily agricultural operations.
