BIOSTIMOLA Hub is a project funded by the Lombardy Region under the PSN/PAC 2023–2027 – SRH04 “Information Actions” initiative, within the 2024 Call for Rural Development. The project contributes to achieving CAP Specific Objective 5, which aims to promote sustainable development and the efficient management of natural resources such as water, soil, and air, including through the reduction of chemical dependence.
In recent years, biostimulants have become increasingly important in agriculture due to their ability to enhance crop yield and quality, optimize water and nutrient use, and improve plant resilience to environmental stresses. These products represent a key innovation in the agricultural sector, serving as a complement to traditional fertilizers and supporting more sustainable resource management.
At the same time, experimental research has intensified to assess their effectiveness, clarify their mechanisms of action and define optimal application strategies. With European Regulation 2019/1009, biostimulants have been formally recognized as a specific category of fertilizers. Nonetheless, challenges remain in disseminating knowledge and promoting their informed use among farmers, technicians, and industry professionals.
In this context, BIOSTIMOLA Hub was conceived as an innovative project to support stakeholders in the agricultural sector through targeted information campaigns and the dissemination of advanced knowledge on biostimulants. The project aims to foster environmentally and economically sustainable use of biostimulants, contributing to optimal resource management and enhancing crop resilience to environmental stresses. Building on the actions carried out under the recently concluded BIOSTIMOLA project, BIOSTIMOLA Hub seeks to delve deeper into previously explored topics and investigate new ones, providing a comprehensive and detailed overview of the biostimulant sector. The project will serve as a knowledge hub, facilitating exploration and sharing of various aspects related to biostimulants and their applications, with the contribution of sector experts.
BIOSTIMOLA Hub also aims to create a collaborative space for collecting and disseminating technical knowledge, ensuring wide and inclusive access to the knowledge produced.
